Called the guy (y'all knew I would........).

 

Truck had alot lower miles when sold by the mine, since then has had unknown number of owners.  Seller bought it 3+ years ago and hasn't seen or heard it run, says the guy he got it from said it ran.  Said the bed was gone when he got it, he took the t-case for another project.  Says the fuel tank "should be there" but doesn't know why it's not visible in the photos.  No rear drive shaft.  

 

He's gonna swing by his uncle's land where it's stored and get back to me about the tank.

 

Says he has the title, but not in his name.  Said he can go get it in his name....... but we all know how that can end up.

 

I'm skeptical about the mileage.... possibility the speedo quit working some time ago.

 

 

So, while cool and interesting....... this has massive P.I.T.A. written all over it.  Especially if the mice have had their way with the wiring....

I made him a cash offer on it and he accepted. If it's as bad as yellaheap says. I just may pass after seeing it. We'll see. Plane hasn't been out of the hanger for a couple months. Good excuse to go flying.

Now that sounds like a FUN day Jim!  Fly out, see an MJ, fly back.  

 

Being that Jim seems to cap his offers at $500 and lower...... this will likely end up in his collection.

Jim,  I could also be quite interested in this truck IF the VIN number indicates it is a real 86-87 diesel Comanche.   That is the only way I can get it registered in California with a diesel engine.  The rest of the missing parts can all be taken care of with some effort and some $$.

 

Heck, this would even get me to get rid of my Hesco Aluminum head and all my stroker parts in the garage.

Finally talked to the guy on the phone. Interesting conversation. I just told him I pass on it. To many red flags. Perhaps if it were closer
