odd question

The high pinion Dana 30 is a decent axle for the MJ. There are simple upgrades to improve it. Probably the most bang for the buck is replacing the front axle shafts with ones with larger u-joints. As long as you are staying with 33" tires or so the the D30 is fine. Many people run up to 35" tires with them.

I run 35's on my 30, does fine. The biggest issue with the 30 is housing flex. A full case locker/LSD and a good differential cover will solve a fair bit of that.

Otherwise a simple truss goes a long way if you plan to beat on it. The larger ujoints are the same size as a D44 so not exactly weak.

It's no D60 but is decent axle for what it is.
