akamcbird
is there a need for anything other than coil springs for the front to acheive 3" of lift? also can the rear be lifted to match the 3" with only custom shackles? -thnx
feerocknok
You should do new shocks front and rear for 3" of lift. LCAs'll be fine, but could use changing. You need to do something else for the rear besides shackles. At 2.25", I have issues with my driveshaft over-compressing into the t-case. An Add-A-Leaf is your cheapest/best bet. Next option would be a bastard leaf pack. Either of those 2 options can be combined with a maximum of a 2" lift shackle.
Rob S
Also keep in mind the track bar, if you want your front end centered under the truck you will need a new track bar. Also you should consider new sway bar links, bumpstops and maybe longer brake lines (same year wrangler lines will be plenty long, and available at napa). HTH. JeepcoMJ
you can just reposition the brake lines lower as well.
Eagle
you can just reposition the brake lines lower as well. You can, but it's not a good idea. Old steel brake lines may be rusty, and when you try to straighten out the neds to lower the end they often crack at the bend. On an MJ the original rubber brake hoses are probably overdue for replacement anyway, so it's preferable to do it the right way and just buy longer hoses.
