Mattwheels
I figured it was about time to start a build thread, I've owned my comanche since August of 2012. So far I've taken apart one Cherokee to convert it over to obd1, but recently acquired this! 98 xj 5 speed, with 155k on it, ran and drove till I got to it. She started out as a 4.0 automatic, idiot lights and a bench seat. Managed to find an external slave ax15 for 50$ After a full rebuild on the transmission and Cherokee swapping she was up and running! Drove like a champ! Now on to modifying! 5.5" of lift, new 32" tires and rims, and an 8.25! The old turd removed The 8.25 spring over installed Next the front, drop brackets, springs, and shocks And here she is back on her own feet After lifting it exacerbated the problem of my bad tie rods ends, confirmed it when I took it to les schwabs to get the front aligned and they wanted 400+ to take care of that, so time for the next upgrade... Wj knuckles,1 ton steering, and abs axle shafts. Ball joints removed, had 3 bad ones. Ran into a clearance issue.. No way the steer tire rod would clear that. Cut off wheel solved that problem, I'll have to figure out a sway bar later on. This is close to how she currently sits, I've got 3 holes left to fully ream for my new TRE's. CobraMarty
Is that arm and TRE going to hit the spring on full left turn?
Mattwheels
It looks Close Cobra, but it clears the spring with a decent amount of room, I believe I had it at full lock in that picture even. I unfortunately have to work today so I won't get a chance to work on it today, but tomorrow the plan is to get my steer rod cut to length, and the knuckles and pitman drilled out all the way. After that I should be back on the road!
Mattwheels
Calipers are on, front connecting rod is finished and welded up, now the steer rod is left, should hopefully be driving her tonight. Although still have to adjust the rear drums

Mattwheels
Brakes all done up and looking nice, this is how they should have came! Steering is finished, took her for a test run around my warehouse and my driveshaft fell out.. guess 5.5" inches was too much. Going with a sye and custom driveshaft to get myself back on the road

Mattwheels
http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/np231-sye--new-process-231j-fixed-yoke-kit-50-7906--50-7907/ Welp.. went with an AA SYE, and tom woods driveshaft, even after talking with Mnkyboy, about drive shafts the tom woods is more expensive but I'm in montana for work and won't be able to go to my local driveline place to get a quote and new shaft for a good week or so, so hopefully by the time I get back I'll have a nice heavy package waiting for me. Mattwheels
Hmm my leafs don't look the same, could that cause vibrations?
Crash
When you raise the steering links, the track bar needs to be at the same angle. You WILL need an OTA axle side mount, and modified/new track bar. I recommend either TnT or Ruffstuff for the OTA mount.
