big66440
I was wondering if anyone is running window visors on your MJ? my driver and passenger windows leak water and make A LOT of wind noise, I've replaced most of the weatherstripping and sealed the "smoker windows" with silicone but can't get a good seal, I figured a 30.00 set of those window vents would help with both issues what do you guys think? HOrnbrod
I have the Mopar black stainless visors. They help in that you can crank the window down an inch or so when driving in the rain and water doesn't come in, but they do nothing to lessen wind noise. Tommy
Where are they leaking? Try putting a dime or penny under the latch of the vent window to see if that tightens it up.
big66440
They leak towards the bottom corner of the vent window, the 90 degree angle part,,,, guess some more weatherstrip silicone is gonna be needed :shake: thanks for sharing that Hornbrod I was really hoping they would quiet my cab down a bit on the freeway. Blue XJ
I have a set of vent visors on mine. They work to add airflow and thats about it. Best way to eliminate the leakes is to put the fixed windows in. Or upgrade to 97+ XJ doors and eliminate them altogether.
big66440
Yeah I plan on upgrading to the 97 and newer doors later on which is the reason I really don't want to keep throwing money at my current doors ( the manual window regulators are also somewhat shot, I can't roll both of my windows all the way down) my comanche is my daily driver and I've read you have to modify the door latch when you upgrade the doors and since I don't have a welder I don't really want to risk not being able to finish the swap and not have my truck. Dadinator
That is my after holidays project. Have a set of 97 doors in the barn waiting to go on.
Blue XJ
You don't need a welder. I just bolted the new latch to the body using the old bolt, its been workimg fine for 5+ years now
Dillithium
i did the same, new doors are also more quiet and may include a neat spot for tweeters.
