FarmerBrown5
OKay guys here it goes. I have a 1988 Eliminator. 4.0 Renix with an auto. Last week I decided to take it to town to get some things and as I turned on the highway I heard a loud bang and then all power was lost. I crawled out to find the Muffler had blown up. The Jeep would not start after this so I towed it home. Pulled the muffler out and started the Jeep. It ran fine, but then died after about 20 seconds. I smelled raw fuel after. I then pulled the catalytic converter off thinking that it may have been plugged, but I found that it was already punched out and had no restriction. The Jeep will crank now, but will not fire. Anyone ever have this problem or something similar? I have done nearly all of Cruisers tips in the engine bay. Thanks for the help!
88whitemanche
What's the output to the cps sensor? That's probably what gave up on you...
Dillithium
Detonation maybe? That could mean your headgasket is blown.

What's the tube from the throttle body to MAP look like? Have you pulled the distributor cap and had a gander inside? Are things turning in there?
