benjy_26
Hello all. I've been looking at getting a bit of lift in the back of my MJ, and seeing as I'm a cheap bastard who needs new bushings in the rear, I was thinking of picking up a set of extended shackles and new bushings and killing two birds with one stone. I know a lot of guys on here recommend the Chevy drop shackles for a 2" lift, but after seeing them in person, they seemed a bit frail (being longer may make them bend easier, no?). What do you guys think of the diy4x shackles? They seem pretty tough, and come with greaseable bushings. Thanks in advance!
Dadinator
I have no experience with those. Have the chevy ones on my truck. I think the only way you bend them is side forces. If you are hitting it hard enough to bend those puppies, something else is breaking/ bending with them. Imho.
Incommando
Depends on the brand I guess. The ones I found locally were c-channel and look plenty stout enough. The cheapie $30 ones can be wimpy but there are plenty out there at the $50-$60 range that are well made. http://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/leaf-spring-shackles-and-hangers
Tommy
My truck has some cheap auto parts store brand Chevy shackles that were installed by the previous owner. With those and ~4 inches up front it levels nicely. I can't see them being a problem strength wise. They're pretty beefy. They look as beefy as the stock shackles on my dad's 3/4 ton Silverado HD. benjy_26
Interesting. Maybe I saw some EXTRA chintzy ones when I went to the auto-mart... or maybe I'm just over-thinking things! :) Thanks for the info, gents.
