badazzelanore
I have been tracking down my no start issue. I have no fuel, and my fuel pump does not seem to be working. 2 days ago I pulled out my fuel sending unit and pump. The sending unit looks great but the fuel hose is corroded (sorry i forgot to take a pic of it) Ill be dropping the tank to clean it and thinking about por-15 fuel tank coating it while it is out. I pulled off my tail lights to check the ground and this is what I found. Drivers side tail lights, and passenger This is my fix, think it is enough? HOrnbrod
Good enough for what? You certainly improved the wire splices, but if the splices were not correctly wired originally, who knows? Obviously an idiot did the original splicing, but you need to check out the wiring with a multimeter based on a correct wiring diagram for your truck. badazzelanore
I meant good enough as in safe and better than what it was. the ground was larger than the wires to the lights and the wires to the lights had one with a white stripe and one with solid black on both lights. I just connected the White Stripes to the white stripes and the black to the black like they were before. I still need to get a fuel pump and reinstall my fuel sending unit before I know if it did any good.tomorrow I will hook up a battery and see if my tail lights work. dunnc1991
I'd say are far as safety, you mad a major improvement
sloride
You have a high probability it'll work, but that's assuming you exposed fresh wire to use for your crimps and later checked continuity. Personally, I'm not a fan of crimping. You might consider solder and heat shrink tubing the wires. I've seen too many crimps come apart, but yours look tight. badazzelanore
Yeah i squeezed the hell out of the crimpers and i tugged on them to make sure they were in there good. Also yes i did expose fresh wires. The old crap job was so corroded! This is just a temporary fix. I was going to pull the entire back harness and replace all the wires/lightbulb housings but i couldnt figure out how to get it out of the grommet that runs through the frame. That and i had a give year old jumping in the bed of the truck...

joester1908
This is my fix, think it is enough? Probably. As long as the crimps are tight like you said and you hooked them up correctly it should be fine. But soldering it is the best way to do it.
