rustybottoms88
Sorry if this has been covered but a quick search did not render results. But I would like a set of TJ rubicon wheels for my MJ but most folks around are pretty proud of them. However JK wheels look similar and JK take offs are in good supply. I have found a set of 5 JK wheels for $75. So my question is with 1.25" spacers to convert to the correct bolt pattern does this work well or does it make the track width to wide and "goofy"looking? If anyone is running them and have pics please share thanks!
Motorcharge
In general JK wheels have about 6.25" of backspacing where most XJ/MJ wheels have 5.25". So you're only looking at about .25" difference per side with the spacers. Barely even noticeable.
dasbulliwagen
I have them on mine. I'll post pics later.
dasbulliwagen
These are JK takeoffs with the OEM tires. They came off of a brand new Jeep so the tires were new as well. The tires measure right at 32 inches tall. I'm not sure if youre going to be using the same tires or not, but this may or may not be an issue. I used the Spidertrax hub centric adapters, and I'm loving it so far. They don't stick out at all and on my truck with 4wd front springs and an extra spring isolator, and 2wd springs in the back with longer shackles. They rub a little, especially when turing in reverse. I did some very minor trimming to the lower edges of the flares but that was it. It doesnt rub enough though to bother me to trim any farther at this point. I had a set of shorter tires set aside for a while after I installed these in case I had too much power loss, especially with me having the 4 cylinder. But with 4:10 gears and the taller tires, power is the same as when I had 3:55 gears and stock size tires. I can deal with it.
rustybottoms88
Thanks for posting the back spacing information thats what I needed to know. I think it's a go on the JK wheels. Nice MJ! Thanks for the pics and replies.

If the Goodyears are 32" tall they must be the JK 17" wheels, si? I ask because some JKs also came with those same Rubi wheels at 16" w. Goodyear Duretrac tires. Those are 30.5" tall and might be a better fit on an unlifted MJ.
dasbulliwagen
Yes mine are 17". The only 16" JK wheels I know of are the steelies that come on the base models. I havent measured any of those so I'm not sure, though they would fit better if shorter, but even at 32" its not that big a deal.
dasbulliwagen
I went and looked up the 16" aluminum JK wheels. I know Ive seen them before, but never thought anything of them being 16". They are nice though, but I like my 17's better, though the new style Rubicon wheels would be even better.
HOrnbrod
There are several interesting 18" JK take-off wheels out there too - most have Bridgestone Dueler AT tires mounted. I have those on my wife's JK in fact. They are also 32.1" tall, exactly the same the 17" w. Goodyears are. Hmmmmm........
rustybottoms88
Thanks again for info. The wheels I found do come with tires but according to the seller only two of them are usable so I will probably be buying a new set of tires. As of right now the truck does not and will not have a lift because it's the wifes truck and she says she doesn't want it lifted.......but she may not notice a Rusty's 3" inch lift you think? xjrev10
I have them on mine. Factory JK Rubicons with the factory size mud terrain. 255/75/17 I believe. Also 3" IRO/Hell Creek Suspension
