Looking for a bored renix throttle body

HO myth buster

Renix in 90 made 182 HP. HO in 91 made 190 HP. That's 8 HP difference.

HO only made more HP than Renix at higher RPMs and not a bit more torque. HO had 58 mm throttle body versus a 52 mm throttle body on a Renix and also had a better design header. See where I'm going with this?

The whole 8HP was not mostly from the head, but from the bigger TB and better exhaust manifold.

Put a 60mm TB from www.strokedjeep.com on your present head, eliminate the "crush" in your headpipe with proper re-routing, and go for it.

HO stands for Highly Overrated.

this is off topic crusier but what about your ecu swap in conjunction with a bored throttle body?

Btw I don't know if I stated this before but I have upgraded my injectors to the 4 port neon injectors and Have done full exhaust. Pacesetter header to 2.5 inch exhaust. High flow cat, and magnaflow muffler. Along with a complete new and upgraded ignition system. ( even thought that won't make much difference.

So I feel like I a, Set up to Get good potential out of the 60mm TB and be able to see a noticeable difference.

you have to have a Cat by law

In TX, it depends on the year of the vehicle. My 87 needs no cat to pass safety and emiasions.

On the subject of a bored out TB making a difference, if you have a high flowing exhaust, intake, and injectors, it'll give you a bit more power in the high RPM range. If you have a bigger cam and better flowing intake and head, it really pays off. If you're bone stock, I suspect just cleaning your old one will have the same effect.

Not sure if you were told wrong or I was. But when I had my full exhaust done at a local muffler shop the told me 78 and older did not need one.  or around that time. I can quite remember now but I know my 88 was several years from falling into that category when they told me that.

If you are right I am rippin my cat out.

Absolutely. I swapped an 89 ECU into my wife's 88, and one into my neighbor's 87 and they both commented on the difference in throttle response and power.

What you're saying about the HO vs Renix makes sense. My dad had a 94, my MJ doesn't seem much less powerful..

So when you install the 60mm TB, you use stock sensors? the IAC and TPS?

Also, what injectors should I put in? I had some Ford 19lb injectors laying around and I was told it was a down grade..

Throttle body with new gasket. swap over TPS and IAC. Adjust TPS per my instructions.
