Full center console

Is the full console in an XJ the same as the ones that came in the MJs?If not what needs to be done to make one fit an MJ. Thanks

Ive played with this in the past. The biggest difference is the black center tray in a cherokee has the e brake hole. Other wise Ive found them to be identical.

If you use an XJ full console, grab the front air diffuser piece too from the donor XJ when you pull the console. The MJ diffuser w/o a console doesn't work, leaves a gap between the dash and console. You will also have to fab up a plastic plate to block off the rear seat vent tube HVAC outlet.

I run my radio aux cord and phone charger cord under the center console and out that ebrake slot in mine to keep it all out of the way

I put a '96 XJ full console in my truck ... only thing I did was notch the front to clear the floor heat vent box.

It fits better if you use the full console front air box.

I would think with the correct box, notching wouldn't be necessary either.  That didn't cross my mind when I harvested the

console.  I did think to take the seat belt receivers for the buckets, only to discover later that the male end of a '90 MJ won't

fit in the female receiver of a '96 XJ.  :doh:

There are some mounting brackets in the XJ that you may need to swap over to your MJ too.
