what's a rebuilt ax5 worth?

Got a buddy that can rebuild the ax5 I have out of my parts truck. I don't have a use for it so I'm trying to see what it would be worth rebuilt so I can figure out if it would be worth it

I don't have a Jeep that could use an AX5 but I'd hold on to it, maybe try to sell it locally.  If it doesn't sell, its always worth whatever your local yard charges for a core.  $35-$55 bucks or so.

Well right now its locked up in reverse. If I have it rebuilt what be a fair asking price for it? I'm sure there are people out there that have a use for a 4x4 ax5.

I usually get $200-$250 out of a good used 4wd AX5, not sure what you could get with a rebuild.

If it works i would think it would be easier to sell it the way it sits though, seems that alot of people would rather put in several $200 transmissions then pay more for a rebuilt one.

If its 4wd it would also help if you drilled it for Wrangler t case clocking, I find there is alot more demand for Wrangler AX5s.

Its locked up in reverse and the sycros are shot. Do you think $400 would be reasonable? A friend of mine who is a trans guy would do it and can cut me a deal on it

No. You will sit on it forever. No one wants to give joe blow top dollar for something "rebuilt" when the only proof is that it is clean and that he says "my buddy is a trans guy and just rebuilt it for me".

And, the rebuild kit costs more than $400, even at wholesale

...I have literally given ax5s away. After I had rebuilt them...something the long term members remember I had to develop a knack for lol

Now, as is, if you just open the case and only replace the necessary, it would sell for a few hundred on ebay
