Jeepman55 Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I have a 5 speed transmission on a 1986 Comanche , 2.8 v6 that isn't working, is there another transmission that will fit?

Jeep Driver Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 I would suggest you find a XJ with a 2.5 for the bell, trans, transfer case swap. Look for the 94+ years. You'll have to do your homework on the flywheel/clutch/pilot bushing/bearing.
dasbulliwagen Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 With the GM v6 other options are available bit they won't just be bolt in and go. If you need to get it going just find another 2wd ax5. If you're wanting to go 4wd now then find a 4wd donor and get it all together like was said. You'll still have driveshaft issues unless you find another 86 mj donor or a later 2.5 long bed. So do your homework before buying stuff peicemeal. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Jeep Driver Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 TH350 out a 4x4 Blazer and a Novak adapter to the TC. No computer and will bolt to your 2.8 Or look to the NV3350 You really got something against the AX5 don't you?
Jeep Driver Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Another option you have is the Dakota 2.5 to AX15 bell housing and then an AX15 and TC out of a XJ or MJ. They are hard to come by......Check here.....I remember a member saying he had one he'd sell.
