i need help trying to change the cluster i have a 87 mj how do u unclip the cable any help would be great , thanks

Is it the plastic tip or the metal clip....

If it's the plastic one you can just squeeze the tip and pull until it comes off but don't yank it

its plastic but there is no ledge to push down to release it

Look into this write up mid way shows how the clips looks like...I've seen 2...one shown in the pics and the other that if you squeeze the edge around the tip enough to pull back and unplug the speedo cable

Disconnect the cable at the transfer case / transmission and then that will give you ample room to pull it from the firewall to get to the back of the cluster to see the clip better .

There is a clamp on the engine side of the firewall that holds the speedometer cable in place. Just follow the cable down the firewall until you find it. Take the clamp off, disconnect the cable at the transmission, and get someone to push the cable through the firewall as you pull the cluster out of the dash. Once you have it out far enough you will be able to see how to disconnect the plastic clip.
