Jeep Driver
I have a 93 8.25 from an XJ. I'm converting it to discs from a Liberty. I snagged the studs from the Liberty, only to learn tonight that the Liberty studs are too big at the neck. At this point.......?? Drill out the hubs to accommodate the Liberty studs? Or From what axle can I get the longer studs to fit the XJ axle? Will a similar year D30 have the longer stud with the correct diameter? Jeep Driver
Also, How many of you guys have reused axle Ubolts? I want the Ford Explorer style with the flat strap at the arch of the bolt. Ford want $30 each......they can bite me. Plentiful at the PnP. Or have you guys seen these aftermarket? And I definitely want the 9/16 bolt. jimoshel
I remove all rust and visually inspect the old ones for cracks. If I have any doubt I magnaflux them. Generally I always reuse the old ones.
johnnyc
When I put disc brakes on my old XJ's 8.25, I got new longer wheel studs from an auto parts store.

mvusse
I used disc brakes from a ZJ D35, drilled out the center hole from 2.75" to 3" and bolted them to my 1998 8.25". Never changed the studs, never had a problem. As for U bolts, I have never reused them, but for less than $30 for a whole set (4 bolts, 8 washers, 8 tall nuts) custom made to order while I wait (about 15 minutes) I never seen the need to. Have always used 9/16", except for the Sterling 10.25" under Wilbur for which I got 5/8".
Fierokid87
If you're running steel wheels them you won't need the longer studs, but for the others you can get longer studs firm the auto store from a grand Cherokee ZJ if I remember correctly. P/N 610-234 by Dorman.1/2"-20 X1-5/8" is the size.
