Oem 1986 Power Windows And Locks??

Recommended Posts

Yes, power windows / locks are not common in an MJ, but all the pieces are exactly the same as in a 2-DR XJ (except for the regulators). See what he's asking. If he has a ridiculous price, find some from a 2-DR XJ in a yard. This is what I did, using only the power door panels and switches with pigtails from an XJ and then used new aftermarket regulators and made my own harness. I can PM you the wiring diagram if you need it.

Because of the high failure rate of the crappy factory regulators I got new regulators from the link below. These are quality regulators made in Italy, and about twice as fast as the factory ones.  I've had them in for about four years now. I sold my old manual regulators on Ebay and got almost all my $$ back that I paid for the new power regulators. I'm cheap that way.

During cash for clunkers, I got whole power door assemblies from an 86. Luckily they were the same color as my truck. I took the interior wire connectors as well so I could make a harness. I got the locks and windows working, but left the power mirrors alone because they didnt work anyways, but I have all the connectors and the switches to do it if I want to in the future. I used the downloadable 1988 factory service manual to build the cross body harness and make it all work. Its a great upgrade. I love it.

Simple conversion - The pigtail can be the hardest component to obtain - New Regulators, motors & Lock actuators available - Switches snap in the bezel & are alla same 84-96 MJ/XJ except for chrome trim - same for door bezels - wi & wi out chrome - Wire harness easy to make.

Pic of pigtail - http://www.ebay.com/itm/84-96-JEEP-CHEROKEE-MASTER-POWER-LEFT-WINDOW-SWITCH-MIRROR-BUTTON-/350933926352?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AJeep%7CModel%3ACherokee%7CYear%3A1986&hash=item51b54ac1d0&vxp=mtr

I got a good pair of doors with electric window, door locks from a 4 door Laredo with the interior door panels for $200. Took a weekend trip to Phoenix to get them.  Had the body shop put the doors on before they painted the truck.   Then I just hunted for a 2 door Cherokee for the drivers side control switches.  Took a little while but only paid $10-15 for it.    I sure would not pay very much for just the switches.
