86customanche
Ive been slowly piecing together a front end conversion. I have the grille, headlight bezel and marker lights. I now have a line on fenders and a hood, which would leave me with just missing a header panel. My question is what brackets do I need/mounting hardware for the newer fenders and hood. I know there is a bracket in the front for the new style fenders. Is that all I need? Its all going on my 92 that has mix matched front end parts already so it needs some updating. Blue88Comanche
 going from 92 to 97+? I can't really help with the swap, but while you have the fenders off that would be a good time to install the later in fender windshield washer fluid tank. it will free up some room in the engine compartment. 88whitemanche
There's brackets that hold the newer fenders...in this pic is the newer brackets the older ones iirc are straight down instead of curved
relyt120
the hoods are the same so you don't really need to replace it unless your hood is just jacked up.
Timeless
You need the brackets on both sides of the truck that attach the very front of the fender to the unibody (pictured dead center). The rest of the attachment holes line up. You'll also probably want to use the 97+ wiring harness and adapt it to the comanche plug. Installing the 97+ windshield washer bottle is a very good idea and will require you drill a 1 1/2" (or so, I don't remember exact size) through the unibody for the filler neck and extend the pump hose. You might as well use the 97+ bumper caps too if you want a stock look.

Also, the wiring harness you're referring to is for the headlights right? I had heard that, assuming the plugs are slightly different but the wires are the same. the hoods are the same so you don't really need to replace it unless your hood is just jacked up. all the hood lines are the same? Noted. won't need a new one then, thanks.
86customanche
And yes, going from mainly 92 front end, the red/yellow stuff in my pic are off an 86, to a 97+

Washer bottle still fits, but relocating it inside the fender frees up engine bay space. It's your call. Yes, I meant headlight harness. Sorry. The main connecting plug is different. The individual bulb plugs for signals are different too (IIRC). I decided it was easiest just to adapt the late model harness to the comanches plug. dankicksass
How different are the fenders shaped? Anybody have a photo of the late header installed with early fenders? My fenders are crap but I'd probably do the header a lot sooner if I didn't have to find fenders, can grab the whole kit on ebay for about $100. Correct the bottle still fits in the bay but this gives your ability to free up some space as stated. You have to drill a whole for the filler neck to go into the bay. I didnt try to use the old plugs and my header panel didn't come with the harness just the bulb sockets and some wire. I couldnt figure out how to wire it right without getting feed back in the system..But I finally got it down to where just the passenger side doesnt work when the headlights are on. IMO I would just mate the two harnesses.
