Blue88Comanche
Installing the nav update for the RER Mygig radio in my Charger. Unfortunately the car needs to be running for this hour long ordeal. At this point having the 5.7 Hemi sucks... I think so far I have idled away an 1/8 of a tank. Most likely more when its all said and done. I can't wait to compare the 2008 maps vs the 2014 maps.
Alexia
A battery charger would have sufficed for the update. O_o
Blue88Comanche
If the car is not running the radio will shut off, thus bricking a $1200 radio
Automan2164
Key in run position, charger on the battery. I doubt you would have any adverse affects other than maybe a check gauges or CEL while the engine was off. Rob :dunno:
Blue88Comanche
Well both times I spoke with their tech support regarding the activation code, they stressed over and over make sure the engine was running. I would rather pay a few dollars in gas vs a new head unit.
shelbyluvv
I agree Jeff. The newer cars have an IOT that will shut them down after a few minutes with the key on.
Alexia
Oh, I turned that off on the JK I owned. It had a setting for it on the gauge cluster menu.

I never noticed that in the WK I had what year was your JK? Sadly my charger does not have the EVIC Display. If i had thought about it i could have asked the dealership to change that if possiable on LX platform. I just had work done to it today.

nitroxsteve
I did this on my 2013 grand Cherokee and it does take a long time. It also says you can shut it off and it will resume when you restart the engine but that never worked. It sucked because in my neighborhood I would never let my car run in the driveway so I had to sit in the car thd whole time. And if yours is like my jeep it has push button start no key to leave on and it will keep shutting off and stopping the update.
