Stupid Question..

Replaced the idiot light temp switch with a gauge switch in my 1991 H.O. 4.0 and the temp switch seemed to be at a slight angle (around 3-5 degrees) in the head, not straight up and down.  Does this sound right?  Thanks in advance!

Mine appears to be  straight up and down, yours might be cross threaded.. Remove it and look at the threads in the hole and on the sender.  If necessary run a tap through the hole or a die over the sender threads to straighten things out. Then if you can screw it into the hole throw some Teflon tape on it and screw it in.

It should look exactly like your old one did. As noted above, you probably cross-threaded it.

Normal. It is on a slight angle.

My 91 is at a very slight angle too. And it's not cross-threaded. no leaks - no worries.

Thanks everyone, I feel better now!  Freaked me out at first.  When I took the old one out I couldn't tell that it was at an angle until I tried to put the new one in and it would only go in at a slight angle.  It's not the easiest place to install one!  Anyway I did put pipe thread tape on it and it seems to be watertight!
