onlyinajeep726 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 As the title implies, I'm looking for the linkage that connects the T-case level to the z-gate hand shifter. Also looking for the transmission tunnel cover plate. Thanks.
AeroNautical Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I can tell you first hand it's incredibly difficult to find the ax15 t-case linkage. I've been told this works, and better at that: http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/shifters/sk2xc.htm As for the cover plate, is it that thin metal spacer between the trans and flywheel? If so, they should be easy to find in the JY if you've got time to drop a tranny in the dirt.
onlyinajeep726 Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 But $169 bones.... I think I can make a rod with heims on either end and accomplish the same thing... Thanks for sharing though.
Garvin Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I might have one set of linkage kicking around still, I'll check later tonight. If I don't get back to you by the end of tonight, send me a PM. It's probably because I didn't have a chance to get back online.
onlyinajeep726 Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Ok, thanks! I'll be leaving for work in a few and will be there to 11:00 PM, so it may be late.
johnny quest Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 not to hijack this, but is the MJ linkage different than the XJ linkage? cause ive been trying to get my 231 linkage to stop binding, but its from an XJ, and i thought they were the same....
onlyinajeep726 Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 They should be interchangable from all year XJs and all year MJs as the shifter opening in the trans tunnel is in the same location. At least that's what I've been informed. The difference lies with the different combination of engine/tranny combos.
johnny quest Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 this is news to me. so youre saying that you've gotta find the linkage thats specific to that tranny AND tcase?
Garvin Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 The linkage is the same between combos, the only dfiference is the rod length. The AW4 rod is about an inch longer due to the transmission being about an inch longer than the AX5 and AX15. The AX15 linkage past the first rod is the same between the Cherokee, Comanche and Wrangler. The shifter and first rod are different on the Wrangler due to the floor design if anyone was curious. I haven't found the linkage yet but I'm pretty sure I have one. Used to know where it was until I cleaned up...
onlyinajeep726 Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 I appreciate it man. I hope it turns up... How much do you even want for it assuming you can find it?
jimoshel Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 If you haven't come up with one yet $20 shipped.
onlyinajeep726 Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 For both? :brows: Cause if so, you Jim, are the man!
64 Cheyenne Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 don't forget YOU HAVE TO HAVE the piece that goes on the body side of the linkage (AX-15)specific. Holes are in different location for the linkage for other trannys. Probably where your main problem is, body side bracket. Most people grab the linkages, but forget to get the most important on, the body side. I usually take a utility knife to cut the carpet to get at the four bolts...
onlyinajeep726 Posted October 17, 2013 Author Posted October 17, 2013 I have every part except the rod that goes from the t-case shifter arm to the z-gate mechanism. I believe Jim is sending me the rod in question and the tunnel cover.
jimoshel Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 It was mailed Fri. You should have received it by now.
jimoshel Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 UPS Tracking says it was delivered 5PM yesterday. Thu
onlyinajeep726 Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 Yessir, my wife was home and took it in from the brown santa. Thank you again, you've been a big help.
