Keyav8r
If you're talking about the C channels on the floor - one long one runs parallel to the door and one short one runs from the long one to the door sill - you can't buy them unless you go to a JY and cut them out of a Comanche (or maybe a Cherokee). Or, you could fabricate them. Look under the truck and you'll see that they align with the unibody structure and provide structural support. Alicia
C Channels... Mine are complete rust. You said they provide structural support. What would happen if one repaired the rusted floors and didn't put the C channels back in?
Keyav8r
You would weaken the unibody structure to some extent. How much? Can't say for sure. Consider the C channels as the top of a boxed frame rail. You still close the top of the box by welding in new floor metal (if you weld it to the lower part of the "frame rail". But the floor metal isn't as heavy as the C channel metal and you would be giving up some of the vertical side of the box (an inch or so, I believe). The front part of the channel that runs parallel to the door tapers out between the seat support and where the floor pan turns up. I believe some of us with heavy rust may have left that portion off, but zi definitely would replace anything from the seat support channel towards the back of the cab (including the seat support channel). If you don't replace that seat support channel your seats won't mount correctly. Some of the moderators and/or more experienced members may want to chime with an opinion. Pete M
plenty of us have nixed that channel (due to rampant rust) and to the best of my knowledge, no adverse effects have been found.
MancheKid86
i have a passenger side forsale, ready to be re welded in and painted :) my drivers side was rotted to nothing, so i deleted both both sides and upgraded to the newer style seat c channels/brackets/seats
