mdwatson
When the truck is in 4 low there is a loud whining noise but it's not as noticeable in 4 high. Also I am getting a pulsating deep growling vibration in 2wd at about 55mph on up and the faster I go the louder and faster the noise is. Truck is a 86 2.5 3-speed auto if that helps. FrankTheDog
Have you checked the fluid level in the transfer case?

86FUBAR
The np 207 you've got uses spur cut or straight cut gears which have a tendency to be quite loud and not as strong as the helical cut or angled gears used in the np 231 which run much quieter . Iv read about many people using motor oil in their T cases to help quiet them down . I personally run one bottle of Lucas tranny stop leak in place of one equivalent bottle of ATF but not for any potential noise reduction as my truck is loud inside and out anyways . mdwatson
Thanks guys! There is no clunking when I put it in 4wd that I can hear and I wasn't sure if the whine ment there was something going out. Found out today that the motor mounts are shot and need to be replaced and hopefully that will take care of the vibration. If not I'll be back asking more questions haha. Thanks again!
