Dodge Ram Axles

Recommended Posts

I know the fronts were Dana 44s. The rears are likely Chrysler 9.25s or something like that. Theyll be full width so youll have to setup for that as well. Not many people go into swapping them for some reason but I wouldnt think it would be a terrible swap imo ;)

The 9.25, from what I've heard, is a fairly strong axle. The front is just a full width d44...not sure if high or low pinion though.

never had an issue from the 9.25 in our dodge, and i have a heavy foot, and do alot of towing and hauling with it.

I too have heard you can swap the axle shaft to get a one piece. Not sure on the cost as I have never looked into it. The unit bearing on the ram is like the Jeep. They tend to wear out faster with large tires (usually if you are going full width, a 37 is a small tire) and they cost a whole lot more to replace vs the bearings in a traditional hub.

I have seen guys running ram axles with good luck. You don't see it too much because for the same $$$ you can buy a Ford or GM axle that is easier to work on and cheaper to build.

Highest I want are 35s around here people want crazy money for axles

Your fine with a D30/C8.25 or D30/D44 combo. Leave the front a open diff and go easy on the throttle at full lock. Carry spare front axle shafts and go wheelin!
