jeepaholic
Ok..I was going with the heim j for crossover steering but have since thought about the JJ..What i want to do is drill out the steering knucks to 5/8 and set the JJ on top side..Anybody had experience w/ JJ? What i need is 7/8 stud threads(screw into the 1 1/2 dom tube) with a 5/8 hole thru the joint to bolt to the knuckles..In addition i am needing a tre piece for the pitman arm that has a 7/8 stud to also screw into 1 1/2 dom tube. Where can i find this? Currie doesnt show this on website but i plan on contacting them tommorow. Yes i am building a Frankenstien front end before i get all the  comments. pingpong
JJ are not used on steering, at least I havent seen them used that way. Hiems and TRE's are all I have seen.
jeepaholic
Yeah i havent seen JJ used for steering either but thought that it would be better than the hiems if i can make it work. Especially on the road. Yeah i know..Trying to create a better wheel.
pingpong
To me it is wasting money. TRE's are less the 20 bucks, and you can choose whatever ones you want.. IE chevy 1ton, and use a part that was designed for the job.

comancheman
are you saying GM one ton TREs will thread onto the stock tie rod?
DirtyComanche
If you want it to last - use TREs. The chevy '1-ton' stuff (it's actually found on 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks.) does a very good job for the price. JCR offroad makes a setup with these that they sell CHEAPER than I can buy the TREs for - and they include a drag link and tie-rod that's the right length. Unfortunatly I'm still too cheap to run this sort of steering. (To be fair, Parts Mike Part's can also hook you up on the TRE setup with the reverse taper and all the other jazz. I think he'll do the tubing too. Good guy to deal with - so I threw his name out there) If you want it to have a bit more range before bind, and longevity isn't a huge issue - use a heim. Not the el-cheapo ones that you pick up at the farm supply - they actually have less mis-alignment than a TRE. You need the quality ones with the spaces and all the other jazz. Oh, and please put a safety washer on them - even if you don't street it. Will a chevy TRE thread into a jeep tie-rod? No. The stock tie-rod is a POS and should be thrown away anyways.
