Dmac0312 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Replaced my worn out serpintine belt with a new one, the new one has been squeaking like crazy even though i sprayed it down with belt dressing, ive tried about everything and I'm starting to think it may be a problem with one of my pulleys, where should i begin my diagnosis?
ComancheKid45 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Well to start off, purchase another new belt, belt dressings do nothing but gum up the channels and grooves and deteriorate the belt at a higher rate... Easyest place to start is to remove the sepentine belt and spin all the pulleys by hand and see what ya find out there ;)

TheDirtyJeep401 Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Definatly the belt dressing. i got a new one and cleaned off the pulleys with engine deegreaser. Also make sure the belt is tight too. than can cause squeaks too
1989 Eliminator Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 The pulleys themselves could have some rubber residue on them. Scrap ot off or lightly sand it off but be careful not to put deep scraps in the pulley.
