Zebvance
I'm going to install a 2001 xj e fan and I need help wireing it. I purchased a electric fan wireing kit. However I want to wire it straight to an on-off switch. Without a temp sensor. The fan has 3 wires coming out of it. Which ones do I use and which ones don't I? AeroNautical
I just did this a few weeks ago, but the electric fan I had gotten had two wires, not three. Mind if you snap a quick picture? This will give you a couple common write ups: http://comancheclub.com/topic/38295-pfcs-88-camy-project/?p=386370 You can also see how I installed mine here: http://comancheclub.com/topic/38295-pfcs-88-camy-project/?p=386627
dave92cherokee
The fan is probably a 2 speed fan which means 1 is ground 1 is hot for low speed and 1 is hot for high speed.

If the fan is from an 01 XJ, it's a single speed (two wires). XJs never had a 2-speed fan.
Zebvance
I was wrong. I'm dumb. It's two wires. But which one is power and ground? Image Not Found
AeroNautical
Black is ground. Unless someone changes the color of a wire, grounds are always black.
Zebvance
Not always true. Green is ground in older cars
Zebvance
Pfc. Your write up doesn't give much info. Or did I miss it?
AeroNautical
Not always true. Green is ground in older cars Really? I did not know that, thanks for sharing. The write up is the first link I posted, it takes you to a post by skidoo. The links are just above the two transmission pictures. These are them so you don't have to navigate too far to find them: http://comancheclub.com/topic/32733-what-is-the-correct-way-to-hook-up-an-electric-fan/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/32861-electric-fan-stays-on/?hl=fan&do=findComment&comment=331350 Not sure why I didn't post them to begin with
64 Cheyenne
Use jumper wires, power up the fan, if it spins the wrong direction, reverse the wires.
