ftpiercecracker1 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 1989 4.0 5spd Truck spits and sputters at WOT (wide open throttle) otherwise its perfect, no trouble starting driving or idling. Fuel pressure is good 40psi at start, 32-33psi while running. Started today, pretty sure its my fault too, since i decided my MJ was a boat and went playing in a rather deep creek. :peek: Get the one for an automatic right? Anyway to prevent this from happening? and don't say keep it out of the water (you guys  .) I might as well be part duck. . :MJ 2: .
GirsMJ86 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Yup, I would say TPS. Of course after playing boat it could be something like a vac leak from a line popping off or there are a few other sensors that could have gone screwy that can cause similar symptoms. I'd try the TPS first though, you can actually test it with a multimeter rather than jump straight to replacing it. How to prevent it from happening? Moar lift and some nice big boggers!
ftpiercecracker1 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 More lift and some nice big boggers! Ya, tell me about it. Wanna chip in? I am always open to donations. :brows:
GirsMJ86 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Would chipping give me driving privileges every other weekend? ;) Ah the joys of being a broke college student eh? I'm having to sit and twiddle my thumbs waiting for my P71 to sell before I can get the MJ I want because of brokeness. :fs1:
ftpiercecracker1 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 Would chipping give me driving privileges every other weekend? ;) So long as you brought it back with a full tank heck ya! :D
GirsMJ86 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 pfft This is the part where I say "But it's your kid, you feed it. I just modify and tire the thing". But uh, yea. TPS sensor. See we're still on topic...
cruiser54 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Automatic TPS. Ask for the "submarine upgrade" at the parts store.
ftpiercecracker1 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 "submarine upgrade" Dielectric grease and wrap it with electrical tape? :hmm:
