88whitemanche
Hey guys I'm stumped First, I just changed ball joints, unit bearings, all tie rods, and drag link steering parts and steering stabliEr and got an alignment and I am still feeling looseness on my steering do guys have any ideas what that be caused by? Second, is the clunking noise it only happens when I'm either going to accelerate or go in reverse? I checked all nuts and bolts and bushing and nothing seem loose to make that clunk do any of you witness this?
gogmorgo
Could be u-joints, either in the driveshaft or axles.
87manche1
Steering box itself maybe? The gears get worn out and begin to loose contact going left to right does the wheels move immediately or does it take a sec to move. They can be adjusted Clunking going into gear is usually u joints but could also be ring and pinion

AMCJeepMJ
Sway bar and end link bushings are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace. Moog bushings are like OEM but are in my opinion squishy. Look for poly bushings and spend the extra $ on them. Regarding loosy-goosy steering, make sure your steering box is secured tightly. There is an aluminum spacer on it which can crack and break apart that can cause clunking and loose steering as you are sawing on the wheel. A replacement if necessary: HERE I hope this helps.
