Kenosha Warrior
general area of the spots on the ground weep hole on rad? is the fluid running down the lower rad hose? Is it the heater core pissing it? thermostat housing? Check those before jumping to the cracked head idea. Ignore this post. Didn't read the link hah. Clear off the head and start looking with a magnifying glass is all I can say.
Oizarod115
its definately not the head, thats a pic of where its STARTING, the coolant doesnt show until below the headers, so it can't be the head. does anyone know how to 'fix' a cracked block? pretty sure its jus the water jacket and not the cyl walls. I've heard JB weld, how well will this hold up? any tips?
carnuck
I've had the head gasket weep and drip down onto the block. Put a piece of paper well above the "crack" and see if it gets wet. Even if the block isn't cracked, the antifreeze can crawl up the outside as it isn't as gravity prone as water (being thinner than water and all) NAPA sells stuff called block seal. I would flush and drain ALL the antifreeze you can, bypass the heater (reroute the hoses temporarily), then take out the thermostat and run that stuff in there. Eagle
I don't suppose you checked (or replaced?) the freeze plugs before dropping in the "new" engine?
Oizarod115
I don't suppose you checked (or replaced?) the freeze plugs before dropping in the "new" engine? the leak comes from above the freeze plugs, but no we didnt check or replace them

JeepcoMJ
tell him to MAKE SURE he gets a torque wrench with the proper spec.s for the head, as well as the torque specs for the head. if it isn't torqued in right, you could have another bad gasket, cracked head, etc.

JB welded them back this mornin, should know later on tonight what happened. (I WANT MY TRUCK BACK)
Oizarod115
well the JB weld leaked a TINY TINY bit, but a bottle of stopleak seems to have turned the trick on the last little bit. woohoo, 95mi trip with the new engine and no burrs yet. (knock on wood) but we did find out the rear main is leaky.
