mjeff87
FWIW, there are dissenting views of RC products over on NAXJA. Most of the opinions seem to suggest that RC stuff is not even comparable to OEM junk. But others (whom I've come to value the opinion of) have said their stuff is fine...not RE kinda fine, but for what you pay for it, it's functional. DirtyComanche
I was curious about a Johnny joint over a bushing mainly, in case there would be any benefit in the panhard set-up. That depends how long your links/panhard is and how much travel you wish to see out of the suspension. As a typical LA setup travels the axle only moves forwards and back a couple inches (flex steer is the term) which even with a stock (or near stock) length track bar and a bushing will not have any appreciable bind. Move the axle forwards 3-4", and keep the track bar brackets in the same place, with a bushing I'd definatly foresee some binding - so a cartridge joint would work better there. Buuuuuut - that's just factoring in flex steer. Throw in the horrid castor change typical of radius arms and you might just cause some binding. But, in summary I'd say that for most people it is fairly unnecessary. If you want to spend the money and are going high-end - go right ahead. If you're cheap then who cares. pingpong
What I know is most ppl judge how well something works on what they read. If you look at the ppl who bash cheaper parts... more then likely they have never owned them or used them. at the same time if you buy a cheaper part, if it fails don't come on the net and bash it cause you exceeded the design limits of the equipment. That being said there ae a few exceptions.... Bad service.. is bad service. Poor craftsmanship, is just that. Lastly 99% of the time you get what you pay for. Duner
I think it's time we sit down and take a good look at this problem. It seems that no one is truly happy with their track bar setup. I have the skyjacker adjustable - picked it up from rockymountain free shipping and included the steering damper. Unbelievable bumpsteer with 3.5" lift that was on the truck when first installed, after lifting to 5.5" the bumpsteer has mostly gone away - new 6.5" coils on their way to the house now maybe it will improve so more. What would be nice would be some better bracket attachment designs to allow the bar to stay perpendicular to the frame and closer to parallel to the axle. The kevinsoffroad bar looks like it might have been a better choice than my skyjacker. Bottom line is engineering can not replace actual field testing and based on everyones field testing this problem isn't solved yet at least not by anything that just bolts on. 87manche
as stated before, I have a re1600 ready to go into my junk. My only concern is that RE has you mount the rod end in single shear. I'm just not a big fan of that. My solution will be to eventually cut the stock mount up, and box the bottom in. So I can run the rod end in double shear, and do it with the bolt horizontally. this will allow for maximum flex, as I can't max out the rod end in that configuration. it should also be substantially stronger. It will look very much like that kevins trackbar, and seems to be the best way to mount a rod end.
pingpong
I have had zero issues with my RE HD setup, and that has been with 6.5" coils.
