chappy88
I just removed my 1991donor xj's ,ax-15 and 231j for my conversion 2wd to 4wd onto 1988 mj. Could'nt help but notice the 91 speedometer must be electronic and not going to couple up to the 88's cable. Any suggestions on how I coud make this work ? Geonovast
Actually, the 1991 231 can be cabled. Just pull the senders out of your 2wd trans and the 231, and put the cable driven sender into the transfercase.
chappy88
Wow, that easy? That's a load off...thanks for the info, while I have you , what does the j stand for on the end of the 231 transfercase? and my manual says identification on the AX-15 is on the bottom which they are but dion't jive with what they are suppose to identify? Geonovast
I don't remember exactly what the J is for, but it's negligible. What sort of identification are you looking for on the AX-15? They're pretty much all identical.

chappy88
You were right on about the cable....sending unit turns right out of transfercase tailstock and accepts 88 cable . figure out the ID of the AX-15 thanks
