Guanaco.13
My Mj has a 4.5" rough country lift kit and I had my heart set on getting 32x11.5r15 and I read someone's form about their Mj havin 33x12.5r15 on there truck with 4.5" lift. so my question is can I fit 33's on my truck without rubbing or without havin to cut the fenders. I also want to know if it will look better with 32's or 33's with a 4.5" lift
Alexia
They can be made to fit without cutting, but you will have to extend the bump stops to prevent the tire from contacting the edges of the fender. Even then it may still be desirable to cut the bottom front of the fenders to match the 1997+ XJ style.

Alexia
Also what size 15 inch rims should i buy 15x10 or 15x8 and what is backspacing? the rims I was looking at was the rough country RCX Black Steel rims. the 15x8 cost $45.95 and the 15x10 cost $59.95 Backspacing is the measurement from the inner edge of the rim to the edge of the mounting surface. Less backspacing means the rim and tire stick out further. This is good for wider and taller tires that need extra clearance in the wheel well when turning. For rim width as long as the tire you are mounting is 1.5" wider than the rim it will work fine. Just note that 3.75" backspacing on a 10" rim will stick out 2" further than an 8" rim. mvusse
I ran small 33x12.50r15 on 15x8 rims with 4" backspacing for about a week. Depending on how I adjusted the control arms I could not keep them out of either the front or the back of the fender during turns. Not even very sharp turns. Then I added 1.75" spring spacers and went SOA in the rear. Fit nicely then. My daughter's XJ has ~4" of lift and runs 32x10.50 (265/75R16) on stock 16" Liberty rims with WJ lower control arms. They work pretty good, I only had to cut some of the plastic off the inside of the fender flares where you can't see it. Have to keep the sway bars connected off road, though. They still rub on sharp turns, though.
ctxj93
I would go with 15x8 on the wheels and a 4 inch backspacing. I've run them on several XJ with 3 inches of lift and 33/12.5's but I've always chopped my fenders also. Like Alexia said though I would probably at least cut the lower part of the front fender to give yourself a little room. With proper bumpstops you can keep them out of the fenders when flexing, and if I'm not mistaken you can adjust your steering stops to keep the tires out of your fenders on tight turns if need be. JeepComanche89
Yeah i think i want to stick with 32x10.5r15 on 15x8 Good choice, the 33's will be sketchy without triming
Guanaco.13
So i have been still saving money for tires and trims and I was thinking should I buy 15X10 so if I add big tires in the future they will be right or is 15X8 fine for 35's because if i was to go big 35's is the biggest i want
mnkyboy
If you want a 35x12.5 the 15x8 will be fine.
