JFAComanche6
Are you purposely giving us an absolute minimum amount of info? What he means is your problem might not be the ecu if you give more info on whatever problem yor truck is having.

Well, there's that, but I think he was actually referring to the fact that if the OP gave us the details of the truck he got, then we could tell him exactly where to get a replacement, instead of asking a question that's about as specific as asking if a Ford axle will work in a Chevy. Slop
I was just asking a general question at the time. I did not believe the truck needed a ecu and I was correct. But I was looking ofr options if it did. I got it running yesterday with 30 dollars worth of ground wires and battery cables. Sorry if I was being too vague. It’s an 88 4x4 long bed strait6 auto Comanche that has been sitting for three years. This is my first Comanche so I’m sure I will be asking more questions after searching the best that I can. After getting it running I have two new problems. First off it is over heating and secant the running light on the driver side is on all the time

That's why we were prying for more info. Click on the link in my signature and do some of the ground and connector refreshing and save yourself some headaches. First off it is over heating and secant the running light on the driver side is on all the time overheating could be a stuck thermostat or a gunked up rad, both possible with sitting. Might also want to check the air filter in case something's built a nest. By running light, do you mean the parking light? If you mean the interior light, they rotate in their bezels to different on/off/door positions. It might be best to start new threads. Some folks may see the "ecu" title and just skip it cause they don't know much about them.
Slop
Got all the stuff to do a radflush and replace the t-stat yeterday but the weather went south. its the parking light that is staying on all the time. Cruiser your link is what helped me get it running man. Thanks
gogmorgo
Assuming the other parking light is working normally, you might have something shorting out to it. Of the switches and relays that control it, I'm fairly certain it's never on a circuit by itself. The battery is right there behind the passenger side lights, so that's where I'd start looking. Cleaning up the grounds (including tail lights) has helped a few people solve bizarre light behaviour, as well as making sure all the sockets have the right bulbs in them. JFAComanche6
Replace the thermostat before you do anything. Mine was stuck slightly open for about a year without causing any problems until it snapped shut and caused my coolant bottle to bust open. It left me stranded (til my dad came and got my sorry a$$), but it was 2 bolts to get the part off and right back on, cost like 7 bucks, and I did the whole procedure in the parking lot of an animal veterinary clinic the next day.
