comanchedude
Check this company out http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Com ... 8021392870 they have a Comanche lift kit that has a "bolt on SOA system" i have not seen this and it sounds like a cool idea not have to weld on the rear axel anyone her ever see this type system before? Thought?
pingpong
Basically what I think they have done is take the YJ SOA lift that Warrior products offers and made it a Comanche lift. To me the point of going SOA is to loose the stuff that hangs below the axle. So I don't really see the point of doing it if you are going to lose 2-3" under the axle cause of the way it mounts. DirtyComanche
I already complained about this in another thread, IIRC. Somebody here HAS this lift. I'd check to see who, but yeah, lazy.
87manche
yeah, I remember that hewas the test rig for them. In fact it's his white comanche on their website. I also am too lazy, but you can see it if you go to rocky road's website. http://www.rocky-road.com/comanche.html be happy I got that link for ya :P
pingpong
Hey I am parting out my street mj now, so if you want a d35 allready setup for SOA. os SUA let me know. It has a LSD, and 3.73 gears in it Personally, I wouldn't put any more time in money into a d35 unless it was all ready setup for what I wanted. xjblue
Basically what I think they have done is take the YJ SOA lift that Warrior products offers and made it a Comanche lift. Patrick Actually they developed thier own spring over kit for YJ's, don't know how much like Warriors offerings it is. Those spring pads gave my MJ over 6" lift in the rear and would have required welding shock mounts. Not a problem just more lift than they wanted and not fully bolt on using the YJ part like they wanted. So rather than the YJ pads they took some time and developed a completely new type of spring pad for the MJ kit. The factory shock mount still sits below the axle but it is much closer(higher) than when spring under because the leaf pack is no longer between them It has it's pro's and con's like most kits on the market but I wouldn't use Lazy to describe it. whowey
After my Uber-Negative experiences with the sway bar disconnects, they hold a place on my 'permanent non-buy' list.
comanchedude
well thanks for the input. I think that this type product is nice option to welding spring pads. and I like "no ubolt" setup. I think I will try this product. and I will post what I think after installing
DirtyComanche
On the 'no welding' thing. I felt it really wasn't an issue to have my rear welded up professionaly, as I had jsut freshly pulled it from an explorer. If you're going SOA, unless you have a D44, you're probably going to need an axle swap anyways. It's no trouble to have a half competent machine shop weld perches for you, truck the axle back with your still running comanche, and then swap it in. The whole thing can be done quick and easy with a ford 8.8. But if you have a D44, go for it. I guess...
pingpong
I guess since I was out there for a while before MJ liifts were readily available, that bolt on parts just don't make sense to me. Patrick
