ftpiercecracker1
I know its not a comanche, but i can't think of a better place to go for help. Specs: 1985 toyota tercel 4cyl 5spd 4x4 The Problem: Extreme loss of power, totally falling on its face when you apply any amount of gas, with load is on, but can be revved to the sky if in neutral. The other problem is this consistant Clacking sound, that seems to be coming from within the engine. My theory is a collapsed lifter, but i am not really sure. All the rockers seem to be within spec, around 11 tho gap between the rocker and spring seat. It has nearly 200k on it but will idle all day long, and starts with little to no trouble. I just recently replace the timing belt and don't think i forget something when putting it all back together, so i am not sure where to go from here. I am afraid i will have to tear the head off, which will require me to dismantle the nightmare of vacuum hoses. Here is a short video of the engine running, hopefully you can hear what it is doing. Image Not Found FWIW, i have another tercel that is identical to this one except for 1 year newer and brown. It has 210k on it and it runs like a freakin top. ComancheKid45
Definently thinking timing or even a clogged exhaust somewhere...
ftpiercecracker1
hmmm, its been a little while since i replaced it. Say 8-9 months, so i can't say that isnt a possibilty. However, i have been told by a very reliable source, that even one notch off will either cause it to run extremely rough or it simply won't start at all. It seems to run just to darn smooth for it to be a timing issue.
