Find a local Craigslist ad for a '92 2wd 4cyl Sport Truck. Running but in rough condition. Pics show a decent bed and tailgate. Asking $550.

I e-mail the guy and tell him I'll take it.... Sight unseen. Give him my cell number asking him to call/txt to set up a time.

A day later he texts saying "bad title issues. Gonna scrap it for $300"

I text back telling him I don't care about the title and that I'm a Comanche nut looking for parts to fix my own and other trucks to restore and preserve them. I beg him to not scrap it and I'd still give him the $550.......

Another day goes by and I text again and he replies "I scrapped it".

Gawd I hate people like this.

Troy, I called on it too. He posted Monday afternoon, I called Tuesday morning. He said it had title issues I told him I did not care about the title as I have two already and want it for parts.

He said that a scrap guy was enroute and would pay him 300.00 I said that I would give him 400.00 to send the scrap guy packing and hold it till the afternoon.. He says ok I will call you right back.

you guessed it... no call, the ad is pulled. a$$hole.

I am back from new England btw and have that rear bumper for you whenever you want it.

Looking for some HO 4 liter parts.....................

Seller s full of BS.

No scrap yard will take a vehicle without a title. If he had title issues the scrap yard would not have taken it. There are no title issues, there was no scrap guy. Either he still has the truck or he sold it to somone else for more. I'm guessing you showed so much interest he think it's worth more. It'll be relisted in 6 months for $1K.

Auto salvage yards in Colorado will not take a vehicle without a title. And the title must be in the sellers name. Scrap yards will. However they charge you $5 ownership check fee and they hold the carcass for 5 days while they run the VIN. If the vehicle is completely tore apart to the point where it is a pile of scrap, then they take it without any paper work. Right now auto salvage yards are paying from#150 to $500 depending on make, model, and condition. P&P yards pay a flat $400. car must be complete and with title in sellers name. Scrap is $170 a ton. complete cars scrap is $220. As of this AM

I have a guy here with a 88 long bed and he was parting it out, I e-mailed him wanting the trailer hitch, we were 95% to making a deal then he said he sold the entire vehicle. it is back up on craigslist today... :fs1:

Is that the sort of Blue one in Castle Rock? Texas plates? I sent him a email last nite.

Scott,

I was able to talk this guy into parting with the hitch before people showed up looking to buy the truck. He wouldn't do it for less than $200 though..... I paid it and removed it today. He sold the truck after that. It was an $800 truck at best..... Lots of bondo, 260k+ miles, cheapie paint job and rotten floors with patch panels riveted in......

It's not the nicest hitch but it's solid. Yours for what I paid if you want it.

And about Colorado scrap/salvage...... Jim is mostly right. Denver salvage yards will take cars with or without title.... But they can only sell parts off cars that came in with a clear title. Scrap yards in Denver don't require a title at all, but it has to have a VIN they can clear before they pay for it. Complete cars get highest per ton rate, then there is "incomplete car" for those without an engine or some of its parts, and lastly "scrap tin" for mostly parted out cars.

That douchebag Bob and I tried to deal with was just an uncaring, unfriendly pr*ck.
