Wires don't just burn. It takes a short circuit for them to, or an external source of heat. Hopefully you found the short when you pulled the old wiring. You DID find the short didn't you, before replacing the burnt stuff. I make a guess it was the wire from the alternator to the battery, the one with the melted insulation.

I really couldnt.find the short it was getting dark and needed all the light needed to put the new wires in plus its my dd...i will be double checking everything later after I leave off work...hope mothing bad happens until then.... And its a new alternator so maybe its putting too much power to the wires?

Ps I have to buy tje platic coating for the wires because noticed today the radiator jose makes contact with the wire for the alternator

Check every ground on the truck. Replace all of them that look at all suspect. Heck, just go ahead and replace them all. Search for threads on grounds with info on adding / upgrading grounds. I haven't had my MJ long, but grounds are the next thing on my to do list after I finish floor repairs. Need romget all my lights working correctly.

FYI - my daughter had a Honda Prelude that periodically burned wires. I re-wit,Ed half the engine compartment before a Honda mechanic told mr the Preludes had issues with grounds that caused the burnt wires. Added engine to body ground and no more burnt wires.rp
