relyt120
Hey all, I have grabbed the brake booster and master from a 96 xj and before I take the same parts out of my truck and render it undrivable I wanted to make sure I have my facts straight. I have read a few guides to this including this one http://www.jpmagazin...ystem_upgrades/ and the one here on the forums but neither specifically says what to do with the 96 rod. So does it need to be ground or no? Does it need a spacer or no? I have rear-ended someone before due to the S**tty breaks so if you guys could drop me a few hints that'd be swell. Thanks all, Relyt120 :MJ 1: PS. Now that I have posted something I think this new forum style is growing on me
relyt120
Went ahead and winged it, turns out for the 96 setup you must drill out the hole and flatten the edge, no spacers needed. Either way the stopping power is at least 4 times better, i swear i can stop on a dime now.
xjrev10
Awesome! I put a WJ booster/master in my 88 but have yet to get the truck going to try it out!!

Were you able to retain the washer fluid res in it's original place? If need move what is the minimal it needs to move? Did it change the height position of the brake pedal? relyt120
For my 89 the 96 xj rod was the same length, no spacers needed though the was an insulative foam piece that did not mess with the length. I did have to move the bottle forward a couple inches but it does not incumber use of the stock air box. The brake pedal does sit a bit higher than before but that is mainly due to the increased pressure, when I bled the lines it went all the way to the floor. Fyi you will have to make a couple brake lines but its soooo worth it.
purplexj
I'm surprised yo needed to make any changes. On my 92 XJ it was a direct swap with no changes needed. Might be a renix thing and i would'nt understand.
