86custom
Hello, I have a 1986 MJ 4X4 with a 2.5L gasoline engine, throttle body with a 5 speed transmission. I have replaced my fuel pump thinking that this would fix my problem also I have replaced the fuel filter, air filter and spark plugs. My problem is that when I am accelerating, it hesitates for a moment then continues to operate fine. Also I can hear my injector spit fuel loudly, can this be my problem? Minuit
I would start with the oxygen sensor. My 4.0 was having a similar problem and a new o2 sensor took care of it. Ain't got a clue about the TBI engines but I would look at the injector. Good luck!

cruiser54
Absolutely make sure plugs, wires, cap, and rotor are fresh. They are supposed to be replaced every 30,000 miles. Do you know when it was last done? Also, spray all around the intake and throttle body with throttle body cleaner and see if there are any vacuum leaks.
