jimoshel Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 So let's do this one now. When changing the fuel pump, is it easier to raise the bed? Or just drop the tank? The tank is 3/4 full. Include the reasoning behind your choice.
sinkrun Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 On the MJ`s they say it can be done by just removing the driveshaft as its on the side of the tank.
mvusse Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 As sinkrun stated, leave the bed where it is, leave the tank where it is and remove the drive shaft. Even if you did raise the bed, the tank would go up with it as it attaches to the bed, not to the frame. With the tank 3/4 full I would either hotwire the pump (unless it is completely dead) and disconnect the fuel line at the filter to pump fuel out of the tank and into a bucket or jerry can, or put the right side wheels up on ramps.
mountainman Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 why does the thread title say oil change? then the content is fuel pump change?
HOrnbrod Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 why does the thread title say oil change? then the content is fuel pump change? Just a wild shot in the dark here, but I'd ASSume he was referring to one of his previous posts. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36963
jimoshel Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Mea Culpa. I goofed. Just got through replacing a fuel pump on a S10. That's what I was thinking of when I posted this. Forgot how much easier the MJ is than the S10. Sorry about that.
