Dadinator Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Well, the son wrecked the MJ again. This time, at least he had an excuse. Snowy curve. . . Oh well. Anyway, the rear main spring on the leaf on the driver side broke. What's the odds of finding 1? Metric Ton long bed. . . Big dent in the bed on the side, but; don't really care about that, just need to get it driveable again.
feerocknok Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Hopefully hornbrod will post up where he bought his metric ton springs, but he ordered a brand new set. In case people don't look at this thread, maybe put a WTB thread in the classifieds as well. Sorry to hear about the truck!
comancheman Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 put an exo cage on there to prevent any further issues ;)

carnuck Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I had a set of 6" leaves made up for mine in Canada for $350 the pair.
Dadinator Posted February 25, 2007 Author Posted February 25, 2007 Well, I got a set of 88 rear springs at the bone yard. When I put them up against the MT springs, they didn't have near the arch. So, rather than risking lowering the truck with the new springs, I took both sets apart and used the main spring from the regular MJ and all the rest of the springs from the MT set. Seems to work. They have the arch that it used to. I got them put in but; called it a day before we got the axle attached and everthing else done. We'll see later in the week if all's well. I think it will be.
87manche Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 you'll be alright with that. Just keep an eye on the old main leaf for signs of stress where the second leaf contacts it.
