Eagle
Yes, I have the 2.5L engine.Do you know what model trannys for the 2.8L chevy engine would work? From what years and makes can I find this tranny in chevys? Is this 2.8L the same 2.8L used in early 80's XJ/MJ? The 1984 - 1986 Jeep 2.8L V6 IS a GM 2.8L engine. Any transmission you can find bolted up to a GM 2.8L (or rear-wheel drive 3.1L or 3.4L) engine will bolt up to your Jeep 2.5L engine. The 2.5L was engineered to share the same bell housing-to-block bolt pattern as the GM 2.8L. The only question is whether or not your transfer case will mate up to the transmission. ekulrenlig
Excellent, thank you Eagle, thats what I wanted to know. Now, your next task is to find out which of those transmissions will mate up to my transfer case.
carnuck
The 700R4 MIGHT be 21 spline, but more likely 23 spline. (most of the 700R4s are 27 spline)
jeepthing07
I would avoid putting any auto behing a 2.5 if you want what little power the 2.5 makes.
