mj.87 Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I just bought a Chrysler 8.25 axle and have questions about angle. I am learning as I go but I thought I would turn to the club for some help. What is the best way to determine the proper angle of the axle? I would like to do this right the first time and don’t want the pinion angle wrong after I weld the perches on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :help:

mvusse Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Actually, you probably want the pinion to be 2 or so degrees low as it will turn up under load. That way it will be parallel cruising down the highway.
mj.87 Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Great help! Thanks! I guess install the new axle without the perches welded on, measure with an inclinometer, mark perch position, uninstall, and then finish the job. Is this correct?
Rymanrph Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I'm putting ACOS on the front of my truck and since the height of the front of the truck determines the angle of the driveline, how do you compensate in the rear if you make height adjustments up front?
HOrnbrod Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 I used axle shims (3* IIRC) to set the drive line angle after finishing the lift. Just make sure you use steel, not the cheaper aluminum ones as they will crumble eventually.
