What Kind of Trans is this ax5 or ax15

if I remember right, the big ring o' metal right in front of the shifter handle is steel on the AX-5 and aluminum on the AX-15. :thumbsup:

In that picture you posted which one is the ax15, and these are pictures I am going off from a local seller that has no idea what he has for sale, so hes no help, and I havnt seen it in person to check what that ring is made of.

I'm 80% sure its an ax15 but just wanted to make sure, before i made the drive

the AX15 is the shiny one on the left.

 

if a conclusion cannot be made from the pictures, maybe ask for dimensions?

the part number shows it as a 94-96 AX-15. :thumbsup:

I am 100% sure that is a 4.0 bellhousing. It's an AX-15.

is it possible to run a ax15 on a 2.8? i was thinking of beefing up my drivetrain before a motor swap

yes. works the same as the 2.5L using the Dakota bellhousing trick.
