86customanche
I have a complete 98 Cherokee that has a misfire that I havent been able to figure out for some time now and have contemplated in the past to parting it out as a part of my 97+ conversion on my MJ. A good friend of mine has asked about buying the transmission off it, his is giving him fits, so the debate has continued. I would be taking the fenders, header panel, and possibly the doors. With those pieces as well as the transmission gone, is there any chance I can get about 2k from selling off the parts/scraping whats left? I had originally bought if it for the conversion but second guessed myself since its actually in pretty decent shape. Just looking for opinions and/or offers to buy things if thats the route I go. 86customanche
The rear hatch was struck by a tree :fs1: they just jump out at you sometimes. Its been replaced but from a different model, the white trim model so that piece just above the plate is white instead of black (only noticeable difference)
JeepcoMJ
if you're talking just 99 front end conversion, sure. but for a full interior conversion, basically the only things that will be left to sell off the jeep are everything from the rear doors on back. that transmission MUST be used in a 97+ swap, as well as most of the wiring, and the 23 spline tcase if your mj is a renix. I wouldnt be doing a full interior swap. Seats max but doubtful since they don't fold like MJ seats do and should.
shelbyluvv
Newer XJ and ZJ seats can be made to tilt forward. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16295 I have done it 3 times now. The hardest parts is finding late model tilt mechanisms.

86customanche
The code that it shows is P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. I know that can mean alot of things. Ive done: replaced plug wires checked for correct gap on all plugs, might replace soon took off and cleaned throtle body and all connections involved
FrankTheDog
Don't part that XJ out! I know they made lots of them but that one is way to clean to part. Around here that's at least a $3500 sale. A body that clean will go for at least a $1000 with out a drivetrain. It would be a shame to cut that up.

Its now been posted for sale at 3000 for a month now and no serious buyers. Kinda disheartening when I expected it to go real quick at that price. JeepcoMJ
test your coil, cps, and cam position sensor in the distributor for issues with connections, or in the case of the cam position sensor, see how much side to side movement is in the distributor shaft...there should be hardly any, and enough will put the contact a few thousandths off, causing missfire, especially if the brass bearings in the distributor are worn in a spot 180 degrees off from the cylinder which is throwing the code. also, are all of your injectors opening and closing properly? a failed injector will cause a missfire code... easy way to test, put the tip of a screwdriver on the side of the injectors, one at a time, with your ear on the handle. the "clicking" of opening and closing will resonate, and you will be able to tell if it is harmonically different from the others. it's not selling because of the missfire code. get that fix
