Car Show Conclusion

Due to unforeseen circumstances the last time I tried to get this thing off the ground, the MJ decided to throw a fit (literally) and break down at the last moment. So, I was unable to go. Plus, I happened to nab a lot of goodies that I've since thrown on it in the shoddy attempts to give it some character. :D

For a FACT, this month, I plan on going, and promoting the website out to no end. :brows:  Got at least 25 CC cards to pass out, and I plan on printing at least another 20 fliers to hand out to those interested. If everything goes well, another 2 buddies of mine will follow in suit (one with an 86 Grand Prix, and the other with an 09 Challenger R/T), hopefully, our girlfriends will accompany as well. :brows:

Will be posting my progress on the old girl here in the coming weeks. And, if any other Central FL MJ'ers want to show up, it's the last Saturday of this month (5/26) at Eustis Square (in Eustis). Would be really sweet to have a nice get together and make some of the other pickups jealous. ;)

Also, as a teaser, one of the things I've picked up recently.

What are those wheels? I like em!

5 Lug, 15" Ford Turbines. Factory 80's Town Car/ Crown Vic/ Grand Marquis wheels :ack: I've never seen these type of rims on any of those cars though.. :dunno: Adds to the rarity of my truck, I s'pose. :shake:

At first look they're not so bad. They could wear on me after time though, not sure yet, just never seen them on an MJ before. I think they look pretty good.

Yeah, I like them on here, but at my next tire buy, I'm going to see about snagging some Outlaw rims. These aren't bad looking rims if your truck has the right "look" for them, yknow?

Finished up painting today, finally. Just need to add the badges and clean some spots tomorrow.

Also ordered some tailgate stickers from Spence over at Jeepstickers. Should have the Laredo moldings put on by the end of this weekend, with everything else ready to go by next Wednesday at the latest. Very pleased with all my efforts. :wrench:

  • 2 weeks later...

Would have uploaded these sooner, but I got food poisoning / a 24 flu bug that's been going around on Sunday night. And I've only been feeling better since yesterday. Coincidentally, the day I started working. :shake: Well, anyway, here they are.

Got the wiper cowl painted, along with throwing some glossy black on the mesh screening underneath. Looks pretty good, IMO.

Washing the truck, the day of; with help from my dad. First time it got washed since the paintjob.

Definitely not a showroom quality shine, but it's a lot better than what it was. I'm happy with how it looks when washed.

The day of the show. Friend's overbearing R/T wanting more camera time. :thwak:

Hmm... those cards fit quite nicely under the wipers... almost like they were meant to be there.

Shining the tires, along with cleaning the interior. No pics of the sparkly interior though.

I'd like to see anyone's cleaner spare tire. That thing almost blinded me twice.

And that's how it was for a few hours. I talked to some older people about the Jeep, and there were a lot of people going by and doing double takes. I guess everyone thought it was "Just some Cherokee" until they saw the bed. Had a few people ask if I'd think about selling it too. :brows: Had to pass though. Too many memories wrapped up in this thing for me to get rid of it.

image_209027.gif After a good while of that with some friends (just water and soda. Still too young :fs1: ) I went for a stroll. My GF told me I should walk around the block, and that there was something nice on the other side of the show area.

Surprise surprise; I wasn't the only Jeep truck in attendance. An older fellow brought it out. Said it had been in his family since '47, and that it was a family project. Of course, he noticed I was eyeing it rather enviously, and I told him about my MJ. He said he used to have one of those, and ran the wheels off of it. He was pretty bummed that there isn't a Jeep Pickup anymore, but at least we both still had one to show. To my surprise, he had mounted an XJ steering column with matching Jeep horn button. Made it look real nice. :chillin:
