89Patches 2000 Build...

Recommended Posts

Hello :wavey: , I've been on this forum for sometime now just watching the build threads and deciding what to do with my MJ, I always liked the 97+ swap but I thought it would be to much for me to do, but one night I somehow came home with a 2000 cherokee for $800 and next thing you know my Comanche is stripped :wrench: , Being that I am only 16 and work nights after school and most weekends I've manged to come pretty far with the conversion but for now ill just start you off with some pictures when I first got it , oh ya its an 89 4x4 lwb pioneer with 450,000k.

Here's when I first got her.

I agree. The swap is worth it. I fell in love with her all over again after I did it. Looks like you've got a great platform to build on. If you run into any brick walls with it, just ask. Plenty of us have done it now. And welcome!

I live in southern Ontario, Canada where they layer the road with salt, but its funny I didn't think it was that bad compare to my other comanche's where I had 2 break in half :rotf: but thankfully I don't have to deal with the rust my brother is doing all body work and paint

Here are the new wheels on with my old power window doors

My new dana 30 LP (for now)

thats nothing compared to some of the ontario cars.

after 2-3 years a new car's frame has to be either rebuilt or repaired,

keep up the work!

its going to look bad @$$ when its done,

if you do drive it in the winter.

lots of car washes!

Well i have seemed to have lost my pictures while i was doing the interior, so ill just show it 90% complete.

but first a flex shot, lol :D and some other randoms I found

what it would look like slammed with lots of camber :rotfl2:

So this is my dad's Dakota beside my MJ (which is 0" of lift and has broken front coils and it sits the same height) 8)

Image Not Found

Now here is when I took the drivetrain out

Image Not Found

Got the engine bay cleaned and painted and wiring and what not installed

Image Not Found

It took me probably 4 hours of beating bending to get the engine to go in, it just didn't want to go in but it finally did(also with newer front end)

Image Not Found

got all my interior pieces painted, it was only about a shade or to off, but you only notice if you use flash with a camera

Image Not Found

I got most of the interior done but have a few more things to do but all the wiring is done and it surprisingly works ;)

so this is about where I am with the build to date, now I am just waiting for my lift kit to come in then I get my front axle swap underway.

this is my first time doing axle swap so any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

So I have an update on the truck , I took the bed off today which was a pita because only 5 off the bolts would come out and the others were just rotted and stripped but my homemade hole saw solved that problem  after I got it off I cleaned all the dirt and sand off and pushed it back in the garage to start cleaning up the frame

Now the bed is just sitting on the trailer ready to go and get body work done

I cannot wait till I start driving it again comanche.gif seems like its been in the garage being worked on more then I actually drove it,lol :wall:

Have another update on my build, so today I went to the junk yard and got my fuel tank which is a 22 gallon dakota fuel tank and right beside it was a 99 fuel tank with the pump, so I got the 22 gallon and 99 fuel pump for a $15 :D , also when I was there I found a Explorer with a 8.8 disc brakes, 4.10s and it was Lsd and I can probably get it for $50

Image Not Found

maybe sometime this week I can get it running :jump:

So I got my 8.8 the other day :D , it turns out it wasn't 4.10's the tag was rusty and was hard to read, it turns out it was 3.55's so now ill leave my front axle alone, and re gear later down the road but the best part was that I picked the 8.8 up for a whopping $35 :jump: and I also got my gas tank wired so now i am just waiting to get gas to fire her up  and maybe put my front drive shaft in and take it for a spin comanche.gif

I have an update!!!! So this weekend I was able to get my front end swapped (sorta) I just have to get a new nut for the drag link and it should all be done, And its a 3" lift just to get me started and on the road and I also finally got my headliner installed, I now just need to get black sun visors then the interior should be complete. My brother said if it moves under its own power he'll take it for paint, so there maybe paint in the near future, so any paint suggestions would be great!!! Thanks...

It's a hover Manche. :brows:

Every time I see someone ask about paint, I always suggest Inca Gold because if I built another, that's what I'd chose. Congrats on the progress!

Thanks!! Between Inca Gold and Baltic Blue not sure which one I like better :hmm: There just give such a different look between the 2
