rock-rail tube

got prices on some tubing today to make some rock-rails (for tim's XJ)

 

wondering, 3/16th" thick steel or would 1/8" do it?

3/16". i did some .125" thick ones for my zj as my first attempt and the bent after the first few hard hits.

I went with 3/16", but only because I couldn't find 1/4" wall square tube for a decent price.

 

The more attachment points to the uniframe you have, the better off you'll be.

I'd go 3/16. I think. 1/4 is absurd. As in, you'll destroy something FAR more critical before wrecking your rails.
