johnr
what kind of insurance do you have on your mj? at this point all i have is liability but the more money i sink into it the more i have to loose in the event of any one of a dozen unspeakable things  :( :fs1: :ack: :shake:
Automan2164
Full coverage. For the small amount more on a truck so old, it's almost stupid not to. Rob
Exxon Valdez Jeep
liability right now cuz frankly it isnt worth any more to me each month, I don't have that much into it yet. but if I take everything off my big XJ and put it on the MJ, I'll look into getting it insured for a dollar amount. My big jeep has some kind of "pleasure vehical" policy with limited mileage and blah blah blah
dasbulliwagen
Even with full coverage, the insurance company will only give you what they think it is worth, and being an old truck, and lower value, it won't take much for them to want to total it and leave you with a salvage title assuming you buy it back. You may want to look into agreed value coverage. You might need receipts or documentation of work youve done, but if you have $10,000 into your truck that might have a book value of $1500, then an agreed higher value may be better for you to replace mods that have been done in the event of a true total of the truck. btm24
I would think the same, when I called my insurance company tey said don't bother  but that's fine since when I asked the price of full coverage they said $386 hell just for basic I'm paying $188 on my 99 sebring with thigs like air bags and abs :hmm: Brandon
johnr
after posting this i started looking around on line for classic car insurance. i got one quote back on a value of $8000.00 for $188 aa year. my insurance co said i should get it apprased and gave me a ball park of around $200 per year. as long as there where no teenagers in the house i have a primary vehicle and a garage to park the truck in. i fit all of the above i just need to get it aprased. Automan2164
My insurance agent tossed out the classic insurance too. She told me it was some crazy number, like $66 every six months. She said the only caveat to that is that State Farm sends a dude out and he decides whether or not it would qualify. It doesn't cost anything to have them try though, so once I get the big issues taken care of with the diesel, I'll give it a shot. Rob
87Warrior
When I was shopping around for insurance, I wanted to find a company that would cover my Jeeps and their accessories. I also asked about getting my MJ covered after I completely rebuilt/upgraded it. Ended up with a company through my bank. I have full coverage and all of my modifications are covered. The MJ will be considered a classic rebuilt. Cost per a Jeep is just a touch more than my wife's Camry.
