pwrliftin
Just wandering if I should be worried about my Uni-Body when I put the 350 in, and if so and ideas on strengthening it? Build Starts March 17 when I move home so I'm trying to get as much research done so I can dive right in!
FrankTheDog
No worries on the unibody strength unless you have rust issues in that area.
Dirteatr717
Unibody and strength don't belong in the same sentence! Ever pull up on a driveway apron on an angle?and feel the door twist at the roofline? Many companies make frame stiffys, some for just the front from the crossmember forward which is the most needed area for our trucks If you plan on wheeling your truck I'd recommend the stiffys up front especially with the 350, if your making a street truck you should be fine
pwrliftin
Yea definately gunna wheel it when it gets the 350. If all goes well I would like to put a 350 in a 2 wheel drive and make it a street machine!
Exxon Valdez Jeep
I would definately get some stiffeners. Every bit helps! Liquid Iron Industries is what I'm running on my truck, HD offroad makes some, and TMR I do believe.
Pete M
I don't believe the those stiffeners will be where it would need to be strengthened. For handling a big v8, I'd look at strengthening the frame where the motor mounts are.
btm24
I've seen mounts ripped right out but still look 100% fine :ack: Brandon
pwrliftin
Yea will definately be reinforcing the frame area that the engine mounts are on. Also considering the motion offroad roll cage, or is that a waste of time? (Not rock crawling or anything serious, most likely trails, mud, and probably drag racing on occasion)
